Meeting New People When You Know No One?

In 1 week I am moving to the Gold Coast to live with Mr and am leaving all my friends, family and old life in Hervey Bay, where I have so far lived all of my life (24 years!).While I am extremely excited to be moving to a big city with a completely different atmosphere, and being able to be with Mr all the time instead of only seeing him once a month I am at the same time pretty nervous and a little unsure. Other than Mr and his flatmate I will know no one on the Gold Coast. My question is this. How do I go about meeting new people in a town where I know no one? I would love to make some new female friends but have no idea how to go about it. I am not a particularly brave person when it comes to meeting new people. I am actually a little bit of a hermit and I do find it hard to make new friends but once I have they are usually friends for life.I had considered possible doing some sort of fitness class or hobby class to meet people that way but would that really be the only way to make some new friends?Taby xx
