The other day a man tried to 'pick me up' (not a fan of that term but I can't think of an alternative).This NEVER happens to me, and I'm super awkward around men I don't know at the best of times. He saw me in a shop, tried to strike up a conversation, followed me around a little still trying to chat, and then said he'd see me out front. I was polite and smiled, I responded to his comments about what I was buying, but I wasn't really warm or inviting. He waited for me out front, gave me a big smile and said casually "what do I have to do to get a date with you".I smiled back as I walked past and said I wasn't available. I'm not attached but there are other reasons I wasn't available, along with the fact that I wasn't attracted to him.He was very forward but not creepy - forward is good in a man so while I felt completely awkward, I still appreciated it. He was definitely attractive but just not my type.Is there something better I could have said? I don't want to crush a man's spirit when he's been so fabulously bold.Thoughts?
